In 1989 Slovakia detached itself from communism and in 1993 also from Czechia. Since 2004 it has been a member of the European Community. Since then innovation has spread rapidly. Fortunately much has remained the same. Such as the unspoilt nature, the low prices, the warm hospitality, the languid pace of life, the delicious kitchen and the social coherence.
Both industry an tourism are showing a marked increase. For the climate is ideal: sunny and warm in summer, pleasant in spring and autumn, severe frost in winter. The scenery is devastating: High Tatra in the north and its spurs in the rest of the country. The nature unspoilt: Slovakia has of old been a land for wanderers with its vast, untouched natural areas.
